Get to Know Barcelona on Foot – Take a Walking Tour
Barcelona is such a compact city that one of the best ways to explore it is by walking, particularly through the narrow streets of the old town. Whilst you can buy a map and set off on your own, by taking a walking tour you can concentrate on the alleyways, architecture and history rather than studying the map, and a tour guide will take you to all the best places and point out objects of interest that you might otherwise miss.
There are many different walking tours on offer, but I will just list a few of most interesting ones and those of best value here.
Choose Your Type of Barcelona Walking Tour
Viator run several Barcelona walking tours in different part of the city and at different times of the day and night. Most of the tours are through the Gothic quarter but with various themes. For example, the 'Barcelona Gothic Quarter Morning Walking Tour' takes you through the Barrio Gotico on a 2 hour tour in the morning that includes this barrio's most attractive squares and buildings.
If you feel like exploring Barcelona's street at night as well as sampling the local cuisine, opt for the 'Tapas Evening Walking Tour of Barcelona'. This tour last for approximately 3 hours and guides you through the ancient old town with stops for tapas and drinks along the way. It also goes through the famous food market – La Boqueria.
There is a Barcelona Photography Walking Tour, which is supervised by a local photographer and gives you the chance to improve your photography skills whilst guiding you to Barcelona's stunning Modernist and Gothic buildings.

This is the largest green space in Barcelona and the border between the city and inland Catalonia. This green lung of Barcelona offers spectacular views of the city, the Mediterranean, the famous Montserrat Abbey and even the Pyrenees.

Thanks to the mild and sunny climate the can take place all year round. It is a refreshing and environmentally friendly way to escape the hustle and bustle and the downtrodden paths of the city and to admire the main sights of the metropolis Barcelona from a bird's eye view. The 8,000 hectares large Collserola park extends over eight municipalities and is of inestimable ecological value for Barcelona and the surrounding area, where almost half of Catalonia lives.
The dedicated and experienced guides know the geological history of the park and its flora and fauna inside out. Along the way the guides also give explanation about the spectacular panoramas of the city. No special clothing is required. A pair of comfortable shoes will do.
