Newsletter #1

DATE: 06 November 2005

Dear Subscriber

Welcome to the first newsletter for www.MovingToBarcelona.com.

You're receiving this newsletter because you subscribed to it, or someone has forwarded you a copy. It's easy to unsubscribe (and subscribe) – you can find details of how to do both at the bottom of this email. Please feel free to forward this newsletter to a friend.

My website, www.MovingToBarcelona.com, is being regularly updated, and the aim of this newsletter is to keep subscribers informed of any news, offers, information or new links that have been, or are about to be, added to the site.

The website was created in August of this year and this is it's first newsletter. Not having too many subscribers (yet), I was wondering exactly what you would like to hear about through this newsletter.

Feedback such as this would be extremely valuable and, of course, helpful to subscribers in the long term. So, if there is something in particular that you would like to know about, send me an email and I will try to include it in the next newsletter.

So here we go ...

The Logistics of Moving

First of all I have two new links to add to the site for Spanish removal companies, both of which cater for people who are moving internationally, particularly from the UK to Spain and vice versa.

www.alliedintl.com
www.mudanzascorase.es

Both websites have an English language version.

Telecommunications

Telefonica - Spain's equivalent to BT – now has a website in English, appropriately called: 'Telefonica in English'. The site is full of information on how to obtain a phone line and ADSL, the different telephone packages (which can include ADSL as well as cheaper phone calls) and you can even buy ADSL installation and telephone manuals in English.

VoIP

Voice Over Internet Protocol – or dialing over the internet to obtain free or very cheap calls. VoipCheap is currently offering calls to the UK for free. This could change, but at the moment as long as you add £1 worth of credit to your account, you can call the UK for free. Get your friends and family to also download the software and calls are free where ever they are!

FOR THOSE PEOPLE ALREADY RESIDENT IN BARCELONA

Home Insurance

Have you struggled to find contents insurance? Without speaking Spanish this can be difficult, but here's a solution: Brumwell Insurance Brokers

www.brumwell.com

I've recently taken out contents insurance with this broker and the process was straightforward because I was able to talk to an English-speaking agent. I thought the price was very reasonable too.

Brumwell also deal in private medical insurance for expatriates.

Barcelona's First English-speaking Radio Show

From this month Radio Gràcia will be broadcasting a show in English on Saturday mornings on 107.7 FM. The show is produced and presented by resident expatriates.

Graphic Design and Web Design

If you're in the UK or Spain (or both) and you need a website orprint design for your business or personal projects then I can make a recommendation – Taurus Graphics Ltd.

Well yes, this IS my company. We offer web design and graphic design for small to medium-sized companies and specialise in building websites that are fully optimised for search engines.

This means your website will be found on Google. We also now offer to build your website in two languages: English and Spanish.

What Do You Know That I Don't?

Well, I have only been living in Barcelona for four months :-) If you know of a good resource (offline or online) related to Barcelona, then please do let me know.

Thanks.
That's it for this issue, thank you for reading.
