Newsletter #2

DATE: 01 March 2006

Dear Subscriber

Welcome to our new subscribers and to everyone else welcome back and thanks for reading.

My website, www.MovingToBarcelona.com, is regularly
updated, and the aim of this newsletter is to keep subscribers informed of any news, offers, information or new links that have been, or are about to be, added to the site.

If you no longer want to receive the newsletter you can
unsubscribe at the bottom.

If you are a subscriber already living in Barcelona, and know of any good resources that you would like promoted through this newsletter, then do get in touch.

So, let's start.

Tennis in Barcelona

If you play tennis, would like to learn or simply have trouble finding other players, then there is a new website which can help you solve all these problems:

www.barcelona-tennis.com

Barcelona-tennis.com is a website where you can add your details to an Open Social Ladder in order to final other people who are playing tennis, and for the more competitive players, there is a listing for match players.

The site also contains information on tennis clubs where you can play without having to be a member.

Indoor Climbing in Barcelona

As I've mentioned the tennis scene, I feel I have to also mention the climbing scene – my choice of sport!

If it's still too cold for you to venture outside on to the wonderful Spanish rock, start getting fit for the outdoor climbing season by putting in some training indoors.

There is a good climbing wall (mainly bouldering) at the following address:

Rocòdrom Gymrock, Concepción Arenal 151-159, Barcelona (nearest Metro is Congrés, Line 5).

The price is 5.50 euros (5.00 euros for your first visit) for as long as you can climb.

The Barcelona Marathon

On Sunday, 26th March Barcelona's marathon will be run. The start is close to Placa España in Avinguda María Cristina at 9am. If you would like to watch the race you can find details of the course at the following website (there is an English version):

www.maratobarcelona.es

The course trails through the city taking in many of the popular tourist destinations and a host of events will take place alongside the route. If you fancy taking part, but can't manage 42 kilometres!, there is also a 10K race run along part of the marathon course.

Moving Your Pets to Barcelona (or any part of the EU)

If your pet has an EU Pet Passport you can now move them more easily between EU countries. The passport also means that if you take your pet back into the UK you don't necessarily have to put your pet into quarantine (although you must wait for six months before they can re-enter the UK).

Your pet must be microchipped, have a rabies vaccination and a blood test in order to obtain a Pet Passport.

DEFRA list all of the requirements together with plenty of helpful advice on their website:

www.defra.gov.uk

That's all for this issue. Do you know of a better link or resource? Then would you please let me know so I can keep my site, and this newsletter, up-to-date. Muchas gracias.
